John Hovey is co-founder and President of Focus OneSource. Upon graduation from Drake University, Hovey worked for Montgomery Ward as a new store trainer and later as a human resource manager for several stores in the southwest United States. In 1984 Hovey joined a paper and packaging manufacturer with four operating locations and was responsible for successfully building the company’s first human resource department. That company was purchased by Chesapeake Corporation where Hovey assumed the human resource responsibilities for the next two years. In 1990, Hovey joined a newly formed company called Merit Staffing in a human resource capacity. He was instrumental in launching the company into the relatively new industry of ‘employee leasing’ which later evolved to be known as the professional employer organization industry. In 1991 Hovey gained co-ownership of the company and changed the name to Merit Resources.
John Hovey brings to Focus OneSource customers a vast knowledge related to human resources, employee benefits, payroll and tax, safety and worker compensation field. In addition, his entrepreneurial spirit and focus on customer service and communication result in a deeper understanding concerning the issues faced by Focus OneSource’s customers. As president of Focus OneSource, Hovey is responsible for overall company operations, client services and product delivery capacity.
From 2001 to 2008 Teachout was the President and CEO of Coventry Health Care of Iowa. While at Coventry, Teachout was responsible for all of the key aspects of this health insurance company which ranged from profit and loss, finance, sales and marketing, product development, provider relations and contracting and medical management. From 1999 to 2001 Teachout was responsible for managing the employee benefits brokerage operation for J.W. Terrill Insurance in St. Louis. J.W. Terrill is one of the largest and well known insurance agencies in the St. Louis and mid-west market. After attending Southeast Missouri State University in 1980, Teachout has held several executive level positions with MetLife, Mutual of Omaha and Advocate Health Care.
Teachout has nearly 30 years of health insurance carrier and insurance broker management experience, product development, governmental compliance, sales and marketing and executive level financial responsibility. As Vice President and co-founder of Focus OneSource, Teachout is responsible for marketing, sales, product development and promotion.
